Beaver Creek’s Talons Challenge on Saturday will wear you out, but that’s the idea.
Envisioned as a “marathon on skis” for adults and children, the idea is to ski 13 of the Beav’s best bumps and steeps in Larkspur Bowl and on Grouse Mountain. All 13 runs are rated black or double black, with a cumulative vertical of 23,722 feet.
Those who finish the challenge will receive a Talons hat, a lanyard and recognition on a Wall of Fame, not to mention a free bratwurst and beer for carbo-reloading.
Registration for the event runs from 8:30-11 a.m. at Red Tail Camp. There is no entry fee, but participants must have a lift ticket.
