DENVER – Denver City Council President Michael Hancock has formed a Foreclosure Task Force to examine the damaging impacts on the community from the large number of people losing their homes.

As part of its series on Colorado’s foreclosure epidemic called “Foreclosing on the American Dream,” The Denver Post examined the plight of Montbello and Green Valley Ranch, where homeowners have lost more than 1,400 homes the past three years. Hancock’s district covers the two neighborhoods, among the hardest hit anywhere in the state by foreclosure.

The task force’s first meeting is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the City and County Building Law Library, 1437 Bannock St. The group will meet at the same time for the following five Thursdays.
