Golden – A 17-year-old Golden High School student was arrested today in connection with grades being changed by alleged computer hacking.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly before winter break and involved use of a teacher’s computer.
No charges have been filed, but they could include forgery, computer crime and use of forged academic records, police said.
The unidentified student was released pending charges.
Officer Ryan Custer said police are working closely with school officials in the investigation since there are additional potential suspects in the case.
“Any students whose grades were altered and have not come forward to have the grades corrected could face charges as well,” Custer said.
Most teachers have hard copies of grades and have reconstructed records, said Lynn Setzer, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County School District.
