DCTC actor Eric Laurits and marketeer/cheerleader Renee Herlocker are on the cover of 5280’s annual Single in the City issue. They’re featured inside the ‘zine with 18 other “Sexy Denver Singles.”
5280 says our town is unlucky in love, despite being named by Forbes as the best city for singles. Twice!
It’s hard to imagine Herlocker has too much trouble. Her stats say, “People would never guess … I was also a Broncos cheerleader.” Yeah, right. In fact, she is a legendary Broncos cheerleader, prominently featured in fotog Pamela Mougin’s sexy 2004 cheerleader calendar. And she also made the workout video “Cardio Cheer” with Paula Abdul. Herlocker still has guys screaming “Go, team!” If you’re looking for her, she says to check out Monday night karaoke at Corridor 44.
Alameda East marketing director Lauren Immel is on the list. You can find her on weekends at French Press in Edwards.
And it’s good to see Ch. 7 anchor/reporter Steve Saunders on the roster. His wife, Pam, died of pancreatic cancer four years ago – and he’s a great guy, working for a cure, raising two boys. There’s a single to root for.
Party plans
The Denver Film Society moves its annual Party With Oscar Party to its home – the Starz FilmCenter – on Feb. 25. Organizers plan to tent the courtyard in front of the lobby and open the complex to a multitude of rooms and themes.
For a lower-key Oscar party, head to the Denver School of the Arts for its Night With the Stars.
String along
Joan Collins and Linda Evans are in town Feb. 6-18 with the musical “Legends.” Both of them will be at an opening- night cast party at Strings.
I remember interviewing Collins at Strings more than 15 years ago. She was in town with Noel Coward’s “Private Lives.” In those days, every road show had a wild party at Strings on opening night – and they were gassers. Free drinks, penne bagutta and chorus girls!
See the pic of Collins and me that night. She looks the same.
Eats
Denver Restaurant Week hits the city Feb. 24-March 2, a deal with 150 eateries serving multicourse meals for $52.80 – for TWO!
This is one of the great deals of the year – and the city’s best restaurants participate. Go to denver.org, click on “Denver Restaurant Week” and follow your mouse. It’s clean and easy – so get your tables now.
City spirit
Wednesday night was busy – with 5280’s Single in the City party at DC10, Lannie Garrett’s birthday party at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, Gina London’s guest-bartending gig at the Denver Press Club and Josh Hanfling’s welcome party as a partner at Campo. … Local cooker Biju made a pilot of “Cooking With Biju” at Skye Forrest’s brownstone last week. … Design After Dark: FILM party comes down Friday night at Wings Over the Rockies. … Lynn Sherr is in Denver on Feb. 8 for Allied Jewish Federation’s Choices 2007 luncheon. … Sez who: “You’ve got bad eating habits if you use a grocery cart in the 7-Eleven.” Dennis Miller
