Sandy Dukat of Vail finished sixth in the women’s standing ski race Thursday at the Disabled Alpine World Cup in Kimberly, British Columbia. In the men’s race, Brad Washburn of Littleton finished 12th, and George Sansonetis of Fraser was 15th.
In the men’s sit-ski race, Carl Burnett was 10th and Nick Catanzarite 14th. Both are from Winter Park.
CSU senior fifth in New Mexico heptathlon
Colorado State senior Kevin Johnson is in fifth place in the heptathlon after the first day of competition at the Roger Cox Multis in Albuquerque, scoring 2,962 points, which put him 310 points behind the leader, Donovan Kilmartin of Texas. Olav Roe and Phillip Thomas of Wyoming were seventh and ninth, respectively.
Four Coloradans in Tour of California
Three cyclists from Fort Collins – Sheldon Deeny, Chris Stockburger and Tejay Van Garderen – and Zak Grabowski of Lafayette are part of the eight-rider team that will represent the USA Cycling National Development Team at the Tour of California on Feb. 18-25.
Former TJ coach hired at Minnesota
Tim Cross, who was head football coach at Thomas Jefferson High School from 1997-2000 and played at Northern Colorado, was hired as the defensive line coach at the University of Minnesota.
