Green HQ “exceptional”
ProLogis’ new corporate headquarters in Denver is one of 19 projects included on a compilation CD of green commercial real-estate developments recently released by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. “Exceptional Green Buildings” is available for $49.95 in the NAIOP Bookstore at www.naiop.org/bookstore. The CD is designed to allow builders to share best practices and the processes behind developing green buildings.
Developer expands to Cabo
Denver-based HMB Partners Inc. is breaking ground this month on its first development in Cabo San Lucas. The project will include 11 hacienda-style homes in the Palmilla Resort, an exclusive gated community. The homes will combine coastal ranch architecture with 1-acre lots on the Jack Nicklaus signature 27-hole golf course.
Founded in 1989 by Donald Beauregard and Thomas Morrill, HMB Partners focuses on developing communities that appeal to baby boomers.

The site also offers tips on organizing closets and strategies for kids’ rooms.
Mortgage payoffs take longer
Americans used to time their mortgage payoff to their retirement age, but now it seems they synchronize it with their longevity.
Fifty-one percent of adults age 65 and older owe an average of 40 percent of the cost of their homes and have 12 more years to pay them off, according to a study conducted by Brightwork Partners, a Stamford, Conn.-based research firm.
The study, sponsored by Putnam Investments, is called “The We Generation/When Retirement and Family Needs Collide.” Another group in the “We Generation” is working adults 45 or older with at least one child 25 or older. Of these approximately 23.5 million adults, about 20 percent house their grown children and 4 percent write a rent check for them.
