Fort Collins – Former school teacher Carrie McCandless, wanted for allegedly violating a court order by contacting the 17-year-old male student in her sexual assault case, turned herself in to Larimer County authorities early today.
Her advisement hearing on the new charge will be held either this afternoon or 1:30 Thursday, said Larimer County District Attorney spokeswoman Linda Jensen. McCandless, 30, is being held without bond.
McCandless, who once taught social studies at Brighton Charter School, allegedly drank, kissed and fondled the 17-year-old during a school trip to Estes Park last year. She had been released on $20,000 bond but allegedly broke one of the conditions of her release by contacting the 17-year-old last week, according to authorities.
