A Broomfield resident originally from India was arrested Friday in a sting after he went to a Northglenn meeting place intending to have sex with a 13-year-old girl, police say.

Giridhar Ramasamy is under investigation for Internet luring of a child, enticement of a child and attempted sexual assault on a child, said Sgt. Jeff Herronen, Northglenn police spokesman.

Ramasamy was being held Saturday in the Adams County Detention Facility in Brighton.

Northglenn undercover police created a webpage posing as a 13-year-old girl, Herroren said.

Ramasamy sent messages to the investigators believing he was communicating with a young girl, he said.

Through the online messaging, he set up a liaison with the fictitious girl, Herroren said.

Police arrested Ramasamy as he arrived Friday at the meeting place, he said.

Ramasamy is originally from India. He is in the United States legally on a non-immigrant status.
