A registered sex offender was arrested after allegedly downloading pictures of scantily clad young girls on several Boulder Public Library computers, police say.
Scott Newcomb, 35, of Boulder was arrested late Friday afternoon at the library, 1000 Canyon Blvd., and was being held on a possible parole violation, said Julie Brooks, Boulder police spokeswoman.
Parole officials from the Colorado Department of Corrections asked police to keep Newcomb at the Boulder County Jail until it is determined whether he violated the terms of his parole restricting him from viewing such pictures, Brooks said.
Library staff called police and said that Newcomb might be using computers with Internet access to view photos of children, Brooks said.
