The Colorado Wildlife Commission will discuss recommendations and proposals for managing elk in Rocky Mountain National Park at their workshop at 9 a.m. Thursday in Estes Park at the Holiday Inn Rocky Mountain Park, 101 S. St. Vrain.
The commission recommends the use of public hunting as an appropriate method to achieve the population reduction necessary for this elk herd. Call 303-291-7234 for more information.
DOW volunteers
The Colorado Division of Wildlife will host a Thursday orientation for volunteers who wish to assist with local wildlife projects at the agency’s Pueblo hunter education facility, 2600 W. Mesa St.
Beginning at 5 p.m., the two-hour session will detail various volunteer opportunities, including wildlife rehabilitation, booth staffing, monitoring animals, tour guiding and cleanup. For more information, call 719-227-5204.
