Southwestern tour for scholarships

The Woman’s Educational Society of Colorado College (WES) is offering a tour of the Southwest for the benefit of scholarships for college students April 30.May 7 and guided by Marianne Stoller, professor emerita of anthropology. “High Peaks and Deep Canyons: Prehistory and Geology in the Four Corners” will include visits to Sunset Crater, Walnut Canyon and Wupatki at the foot of the San Francisco Peaks, home of the Hopi Katchina spirits near Flagstaff; the feast day Green Corn Dance at San Felipe Pueblo; and Chaco Canyon National Park. Accompanied by geologist/photographer Gary Ladd, the group will tour his area of expertise, Grand Canyon National Park. The classic ancestral pueblo ruins of Betakin and Keet Seel and Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park conclude the eight-day tour beginning and ending in Colorado Springs.
