BYU line coach switching to Colorado staff

The University of Colorado will add Brigham Young assistant coach Jeff Grimes to its staff as an offensive line coach, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday night.

Grimes spoke with CU about the job over the weekend and told BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall of his plans to leave for Boulder, according to the newspaper.

Grimes, a Texas native who played collegiately at Texas-El Paso, was an assistant at BYU since 2004. He also was an offensive line coach at Arizona State for three years. Grimes and CU coach Dan Hawkins worked together under coach Dirk Koetter at Boise State in 2000.

Former Wake Forest assistant coach Matt Weikert is joining Troy Calhoun’s staff at Air Force in a capacity yet to be determined. Weikert served two stints at Wake

Forest, most recently as the Atlantic Coast Conference football team’s operations and video assistant. He was a graduate assistant at the school for two years before coaching outside linebackers at Chattanooga.

Metro State signs soccer players

Coming off an NCAA Division II championship in women’s soccer, Metro State added seven players to its roster for next season: Linnea Dengah of Grandview High School; Ashley Munchiando, Mullen High School; Jaclyn Percy of Vacaville, Calif.; Nicole Renko, Rangeview High School; Alee Seehausen, Mountain View High School; Carrie Aversano, a Lakewood native transferring from New Mexico; and Kayla Poe, a transfer from Arizona State.
