If Rockies general manager Dan O’Dowd and manager Clint Hurdle are going to save their jobs, they must buck the odds.

The Las Vegas Hilton, owner of the world’s largest sports book, released its over/under baseball numbers this week and put the Rockies at 74½ wins, last in the National League West.

Rockies owner Charlie Monfort has earmarked 81 wins this season as his goal, raising expectations for O’Dowd and Hurdle, who are in the final year of their contracts.

“If I was a betting man, I would definitely take the over,” Rockies all-star outfielder Matt Holliday said.

How many games will the Rockies win? “Substantially more than 74,” Holliday said.

The lack of star veterans and the trade of pitcher Jason Jennings directly influenced the Hilton, which pegged the Rockies for 69 wins last season. The Rockies finished with 76.
