Air Force assistant now Raiders assistant
In the span of two months, former Colorado State linebacker Brian Schneider has gone from being an unemployed college assistant to being the Oakland Raiders’ special-teams coordinator following a brief stop at Air Force after leaving Iowa State.
Schneider was hired Tuesday by Oakland coach Lane Kiffin, a graduate assistant at CSU when Schneider was coaching the Rams’ tight ends and special teams in the late 1990s. “Brian has had success with special teams everywhere he has been in his career and I’m very confident in his abilities,” Kiffin said in a statement.
Schneider wasn’t retained at Iowa State when the Cyclones changed coaching staffs and landed on Troy Calhoun’s staff at Air Force. Schneider, a former standout at Pomona High School, wasn’t available for comment.
