The state’s snowstorms haven’t been kind to Colorado’s mountain casinos, which posted an 8 percent decline in revenue in January, according to data released today by the state’s Division of Gaming.
It is the second straight month that the gambling industry has suffered a significant drop in revenue.
The state’s 45 casinos recorded adjusted gross proceeds – which is total bets minus payouts – of $58.8 million in January, down from $63.9 million in January 2006.
Black Hawk’s 20 casinos had revenue of $42.4 million, Cripple Creek’s 19 casinos had $10.7 million and Central City’s six casinos had $5.7 million.
The industry suffered a 5.1 percent decline in revenue in December.
