Club

Maybe a little of Louisiana’s heat drifted our way on Mardi Gras. The deep freeze appears to be over, at least for now, and the party people are coming out of hibernation.

DC10 is leading the pack on Monday with its new Celebrity Night featuring hip-hop chanteuses Danity Kane.

“This is a concept we’re doing, not just a one-night deal,” says DC10 owner Kostas Kouremenos. “I really wanted to start bringing celebrities in. … The night’s really about what’s going on in L.A., Miami and New York.”

Monday’s affair is an after-party for that night’s Christina Aguilera concert at the Pepsi Center. Hosts Danity Kane hit the top of the charts in August with their eponymous debut album after forming on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ MTV reality series “Making the Band 3.” Now they’re touring with Aguilera and the super-hot Pussycat Dolls.

At least a couple of the Dolls are also scheduled to drop by the party. And – who knows? – maybe Xtina herself will decide to pop in for a drink.

Everyone’s invited, mega-stars and Average Joes alike. There’s no cover charge, even after the party starts around 10 p.m., but there is one requirement: Dress to impress.

“You’ve gotta look good” to get in, Kouremenos says. He also expects a huge crowd, so if you want to make sure you get past the velvet rope, make a bottle service reservation by calling 720-771-3500.

Kouremenos says he’s planning Celebrity for the last Monday of every month, and he’s got stars like Playboy playmates, Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra in mind for the future.

“Sometimes we’re not going to announce the celebs, so it’ll be like, ‘Wow, look who’s here,”‘ he says. “I really want to push the envelope of entertainment in Denver. … We’re elevating nightlife, basically.”

Dieselboy and friends

There’s no sleeping at Vinyl (1082 Broadway). Tonight, legendary drum-and-bass DJ and producer Dieselboy mans the decks, along with a whole crew of fellow drum-and-bass-heads. The show’s the first of a new monthly drum-and-bass night hosted by local crew Sonus DNB.

Then, starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, the club hosts Westword’s Artopia, a multimedia event featuring art, music, fashion and food. There’ll be an international menu of chow, from Italian to Latin to buffalo wings, and in a strange twist, models.

Fashion shows by Betsey Johnson, Equillibrium Clothing, Lynne Bruning and The Fabric Lab are on tap, just to make the atmosphere ultra-glam. Meanwhile, music by Meese, Future Jazz Project, Jonathan Byerly and Melissa Fuller will keep heads nodding.

Tickets are $35 in advance, or $45 at the door. Advance through westword.com.

Finally, just because the night wouldn’t be complete without one of the world’s biggest DJs, Dave Seaman will take over the turntables later that night.

Seaman’s remixed records for the likes of U2 and David Bowie, as well as produced tracks for the Pet Shop Boys and Kylie Minogue. He’s hosted for the BBC, edited Mixmag, circled the globe and even modeled jeans in Japan In essence, the guy’s a giant of the house music scene. Just another weekend on South Broadway, right?

Support your local designer

On Thursday, there’s even more Denver fashion to be found when local design group Rico Alan launches their line at Slim 7 (in the alley off 14th Street between Market and Larimer streets).

DJ Theron from San Diego will spin house and breakbeat – and, oh yes, there will be drink specials.

Gather a group of pals to share a $95 bottle of Absolut, and reserve a table for bottle service. You’ll be rolling in style and supporting local design at the same time. It’s a win-win.

Make reservations by calling 303-359-8273.
