The University of Colorado hired former Brigham Young offensive line coach Jeff Grimes for the same position, reuniting him with CU coach Dan Hawkins. Grimes, 38, replaces Chris Strausser, who resigned Feb. 8 to return to Boise State.
Grimes was an offensive line coach at Boise State in 2000, when Hawkins was an assistant. The next three years, Grimes held the same position at Arizona State while also serving as the running game coordinator. There, he worked closely with current CU offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich, who joined Hawkins’ staff in Boulder last season.
“He’s a great teacher, and I think he has a great way of developing guys, not only technically but with a mentality you need in the offensive line,” Hawkins said.
