Fort Collins – Colorado State hard-luck forward Freddy Robinson has watched five senior nights. It’s finally his turn when he and guard Cory Lewis are honored Saturday before the Wyoming game.
Robinson had two years of eligibility restored because of injuries and made his just his third start of the season Wednesday at BYU. Lewis, a two-year starter who transferred from a junior college, was just getting used to Fort Collins.
“I had two good years here. I got to meet good people, good coaches, it’s going to be kind of sad to leave it all behind,” Lewis said.
Robinson has his degree. Lewis is on track to graduate in May.
Lewis missed his usual start Wednesday when coach Dale Layer shook up the lineup, also benching Stuart Creason to open the game. Seniors, no matter how much or how little they have played, traditionally start their final home game.
Wyoming (15-12, 6-7 Mountain West) is making a strong bid for fifth place, while CSU (15-11, 5-9) is trying to hang on to sixth ahead of New Mexico and Utah, which both are 4-9 and play at Utah Saturday.
TCU (10-15, 2-11) appears destined for a repeat No. 9 seed for the conference tournament, which begins March 6 with the play-in game between Nos. 8 and 9 seeds.
