World War II veteran and Longmont resident Ernest Peterson, 86, was presented Thursday with military service medals that he earned 62 years ago.

The presentation was made by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave at the American Legion Hall #32.

Friends, family and Legion members gathered for the ceremony in which Peterson was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, a Bronze Star Attachment, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Sharpshooter Badge & Rifle Bar, Marksman Badge, and a Submachine Gun Bar.
