Bad weather led to more flight cancellations over the weekend, as airlines continue to grapple with storms, particularly in the Midwest and on the East Coast.

At Denver International Airport, power problems and high winds slowed some operations.

Frontier Airlines canceled nine flights Saturday and three Sunday to or from Chicago Midway; Milwaukee; Indianapolis; Dallas; Tulsa, Okla.; and Dayton, Ohio.

Also at DIA, United Airlines canceled 21 departing and 25 arriving flights Saturday and 17 departing and 18 arriving flights Sunday because of weather in Chicago and Washington, D.C., spokeswoman Robin Urbanski said.

Frontier was temporarily checking in passengers manually as a result of losing power. Xcel Energy spokesman Tom Henley said high winds caused wires to come together, causing “momentary power outages.”

On Saturday, the power disruptions caused problems at DIA with some security doors, jetways and baggage handling, DIA spokesman Chuck Cannon said. The airport stopped de-icing for a short time because of high winds, Cannon added.

JetBlue was among carriers whose operations were affected by bad weather.

The carrier, which already canceled more than 1,000 flights because of a Valentine’s Day snowstorm, was forced to cancel at least 68 flights Monday.
