A Secret Service agent in Denver pleaded not guilty Monday to two felony assault charges filed against him in an alleged domestic violence assault.
The agent, Lon Garner, had been the top agent in Denver before his arrest in November. He had been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation of the alleged assault on his wife, Christine.
A hearing was scheduled for March 26, with a jury trial scheduled for July 10.
Garner is charged with second-degree assault, causing serious bodily injury, and second-degree assault, injury with a deadly weapon.
Each charges carries a maximum penalty of 16 years in prison, if convicted.
