STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.-

Canadian resort operator Intrawest Corp. completed its purchase of the Steamboat ski resort from American Skiing Co. on Thursday for $265 million.

David Barry, Intrawest’s chief operating officer for mountain resorts, announced the sale was in process on Dec. 19.

Intrawest, which was bought by Fortress Investments last year for $2.8 billion, now controls or has interests in 11 North American ski resorts, including Winter Park and Copper Mountain in Colorado.

American Skiing had owned Steamboat for 10 years.

American Skiing recently sold the Vermont ski resorts of Killington and Pico Mountain to SP Land Company for $83.5 million and Vermont’s Mount Snow ski resort and New Hampshire’s Attitash ski resort to Peak Resorts for $73.5 million.
