A Denver assistant city attorney was reprimanded for using her position to try to get out of an animal-control ticket.
Police were called in when Assistant City Attorney Dani Eliscu refused to cooperate with an animal-control officer trying to ticket her in Congress Park.
Eliscu works in the Prosecution & Code Enforcement section of the city attorney’s office.
Her supervisor, Vince DiCroce, said she received a written reprimand.
News of the Feb. 10 incident marks the second time in a week the city attorney’s office has made headlines for employees’ nonwork activities. On Tuesday, City Attorney Larry Manzanares resigned after being found with a stolen laptop that he said he bought in a parking lot.
“The people within this section are very dedicated people,” DiCroce said. “And they do have high ethical standards.”
Eliscu flashed her city badge when she was contacted for letting her dogs run off-leash, according to a report filed by an officer identified as R. Mouton.
“I can’t believe you are going to go threw (sic) with this,” she said, according to the report. “We are all on the same side. You’re sure you can’t give me a break?”
She ultimately paid $130 in fines for failing to properly vaccinate her dogs and not having them properly licensed.
