The Denver Post received two honors for large-circulation newspapers (250,000 and more) in the recent Associated Press Sports Editors’ judging. The Post’s Sunday sports section earned honorable mention honors (top 20) and former Post reporter Bill Briggs earned a top-10 honor in feature story writing for his story about two boxers reunited after 23 years and the fateful sparring session that changed both of their lives. The writing entries go on to further judging to be ranked in order.

In the recent Colorado Press Association judging, The Post sports staff swept its categories, with Mark Kiszla earning first-place honors for column writing, Briggs earning a first in sports story and the staff receiving a first for event coverage.
