DENVER-
Terry Carroll will not return as basketball coach for Denver, athletic director Peg Bradley-Doppes said.
“Coach Carroll took an extended leave of absence in December and subsequently, we determined that a change in leadership for our men’s basketball program was necessary,” Bradley-Doppes said Friday. “We thank Coach Carroll for his efforts over the last six years.”
The reasons for Carroll’s leave have not been disclosed, but Bradley-Doppes has said Carroll did not return a series of phone calls since he left the team.
Assistant coach Kevin Reynolds will continue as interim head coach while a national search gets under way for a new coach, Bradley-Doppes said.
The Pioneers finished the season 4-24 overall and 3-15 in the Sun Belt Conference. They lost 83-67 to Louisiana-Monroe in the first round of the conference tournament Wednesday.
A phone number for Carroll could not be found.
