A teenage boy and a young man died when the pickup they were riding in rolled over on a small road between Rifle and Grand Junction.
The Colorado State Patrol said a 1999 Chevy Silverado was traveling at high speed south on Roan Creek Road north of DeBeque when it went off the right side of the road early Saturday morning. The driver over-corrected and went off the left side of the road, where the truck rolled over 2-1/2 times. Troopers said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt and both were ejected.
Dead at the scene was the driver, Jonathon Burt, 23, of DeBeque. A passenger, Treavor Herrin, 14, of DeBeque, was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, where he died.
