Gavin Prout of the Colorado Mammoth scored a game-high eight points to lead the West Division team, but the East earned a 20-16 victory in the National Lacrosse League All-Star Game at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. Prout notched three goals and five assists. Mark Steenhuis of the Buffalo Bandits scored six goals to lead the East team, which never trailed.
Balanced 14ers’ attack nets win
The Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League had six players score in double figures, led by P.J. Tucker’s 19 points, in a 114-96 win over the Los Angeles D-Fenders at the Broomfield Event Center.
The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League scored two short-handed goals and topped the host Austin Ice Bats 6-3 in Austin, Texas. Chris Hartsburg had a goal and three assists to lead the Eagles, who share the league’s best mark with the Laredo Bucks at 83 points.
Jamie Lovell scored the second and deciding goal in a shootout as the Tulsa Oilers downed the visiting Rocky Mountain Rage 5-4.
Erie rider places 17th in Daytona 200
Ricky Orlando of Erie finished 17th in the Daytona 200, a Formula Xtreme motorcycle race, at Daytona Beach, Fla. Orlando, who formed the Rocky Mountain Kawasaki Racing Team this season, was the top Coloradan in the race. Martin Craggill of Boulder finished just 22 laps of the 68-lap race to end up 52nd.
