Boulder police arrested two men early Sunday for allegedly assaulting a man after making derogatory comments about his sexuality.

A 23-year-old man told police he was walking near 10th and Pearl streets about 12:30 a.m. with his arm around a 19-year-old male friend when some men behind them made derogatory comments about their being gay.

They exchanged words before one of the men came up and pushed him, starting the fight. The fight continued between him and the two men until the victim said he was able to separate himself and police arrived.

All had minor injuries, and no one went to the hospital.

Adam Perez, 21 of Boulder was arrested on counts of second-degree assault and bias-motivated crimes. Eric Schorling, 21, of Boulder was arrested on counts of third-degree assault, bias-motivated crimes and felony criminal mischief.
