DENVER-

Colorado Lottery officials said Thursday they held up the midweek Lotto drawing while computers searched for a missing $2.

The glitch delayed the winning numbers by about three hours.

Spokeswoman Linh Truong said before a computer randomly generates the winning six numbers for the Lotto game, a series of electronic checks are designed to ensure the game is honest, that all lottery terminals are closed and that all money is accounted for. On Wednesday night, the computer found a $2 discrepancy between the number of bets recorded at headquarters and the amount of money reportedly taken in by the game’s 2,900 terminals.

The numbers could not be drawn until the discrepancy was resolved, she said. It was eventually determined someone had canceled a ticket and got their dollar back at the very last moment before the terminals locked out any new entries for the drawing.

There was no big winner, and the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing increases to $6.8 million.

The winning numbers were: 5, 8, 15, 18, 19, and 37. Lotto players can win prizes in ascending amounts up to the jackpot by matching three, four, five, or six of the numbers.
