New Belgium Springboard Ale, $7.99 a six-pack
New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins is an endless source of innovation, from its “green” production methods to its beers.
The newest seasonal in its lineup is Springboard Ale. New Belgium isn’t calling its new brew, made with rare Chinese herbs, Gogi berries and Mount Hood hops, a wit, a style familiar to fans of Belgian beers, but it’s close enough to pass for one.
It’s a light-drinking, very complex brew, only partially filtered so it’s a bit cloudy, with a nice, crisp finish. It contains 6.2 percent alcohol (by volume).
Springboard is expected to be available in 12-ounce bottles and on draft through April.
