Getting your player ready...

While debate on the potential hazards of dining and drinking from plastic – it’s leaching! – continues to rage, California’s Klean Kanteen has forged an all-metal bottle for sippers who lean toward the plastic-is-risky camp. Or at least the plastic-tastes-funny camp. Non-leaching stainless and lightweight, Klean Kanteens seem to deliver chilly gulps even when they’ve been sitting in a warm pack. Once you mix something in a plastic bottle, it will smell and taste like that drink for the rest of its life. Not so with the easy-to-clean Klean Kanteens. They come in four sizes ($18 to $24), including a sippy cup for small-handed drinkers and a 40-ounce size. When it’s wicked-cold out, it’s hard to get past the voice in your head – probably your mom’s – warning you not to touch your lips to that metal, even on a triple-dog dare. So maybe they’re best for spring and summer sipping.
