Comcast officially opened a new support center in Centennial on Tuesday as part of a plan to add 500 new jobs in the state.
Representatives at the Centennial facility will offer technical assistance to the company’s business customers.
The new Business Services Support Center already has 100 employees in the building being leased at Rampart Business Center. Comcast plans to add another 100 workers by the end of the year, and eventually will fill the building with 350 employees.
Wages range $12 to $15 an hour, depending on experience.
“These are customer-service reps who have a slightly higher degree of technical acumen and have gone through additional training to make sure they’re specific to small-business customers,” said Karl Ossentjuk, vice president of business services for Comcast’s Colorado region.
This is Comcast’s third facility in Centennial, which has another customer-service center and a broadcast facility, Mayor Randy Pye said.
“It goes to show how welcoming Centennial is of the business community,” Pye said.
The company also is opening a call center in Colorado Springs.
Comcast spokeswoman Cindy Parsons said people interested in working for Comcast can get information at www.comcast.com, or hit “888” on their digital cable system’s remote control.
Comcast is the nation’s largest cable-TV provider, with 810,000 customers and more than 4,000 employees in Colorado.
