The addition of Alvin McKinley could mean defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson will never be a Bronco.

The Broncos on Tuesday signed McKinley, the eighth former Cleveland defensive lineman they have inked since 2005, to a four-year deal worth about $8 million. He will likely start at defensive tackle.

With McKinley in, the trade with Miami for Wilkinson could soon be nullified. Wilkinson has until March 30 to pass a physical with Denver. If he doesn’t pass, the trade will be voided or the deadline will be extended for a second time.

Wilkinson has had knee problems and is getting an MRI to determine whether he’ll need surgery. However, there are strong indications the trade could be voided – one reason Denver signed McKinley.

McKinley, 6-foot-3, 294 pounds, played defensive end in the Browns’ 3-4 defense the last two years.

He had 45 tackles and one sack in 2006 and 68 tackles and five sacks in 2005.

Broncos middle linebacker Al Wilson has signed with Denver-based agent Peter Schaffer.
