Citing a solid snowpack more than 6 feet deep, Aspen Highlands is bucking the trend in ski country this season by extending its closing date one week. Instead of the original season finale scheduled for this Sunday, Aspen Highlands will close April 8. All mountain-related services and facilities will remain open, including the area’s signature ski lines in Highland Bowl.
RFTA bus service will be extended, and Highlands base area restaurants and businesses will remain open. In addition, parking at Aspen Highlands is free Monday through Friday, April 2-6.
Nearby Buttermilk will close as scheduled on Sunday, with a Family Fun Day starting at 10 a.m. Children’s events include face painting, free hot dogs and chips starting at noon, a kids rail slide competition and a day-long Mountain Duck Hunt, where rubber duckies hidden around the mountain can be redeemed for prizes. Snowmass and Aspen Mountain will close April 15.
