Getting your player ready...

Hockey fans can see the Colorado Avalanche either on TV or when the two-time Stanley Cup champs play on their home ice at the Pepsi Center. What they can never do is venture into the team’s locker room.

It’s strictly off-limits.

So offering what could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take a peek inside was a major incentive when it came time to peddle the $2,500 tables for the annual Charity Brunch and Fashion Show put on by the wives and girlfriends known as the Avs Better Halves.

This benefit for The Children’s Hospital, Teammates for Kids and Kroenke Sports Charities takes place Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center; the thank-you party was held earlier this month in the spiffy quarters where the Avs suit up.

Sunday’s show, presented by Neiman Marcus, pairs Avalanche players and coaches with The Children’s Hospital Ambassadors – youngsters who have been or are being treated for serious illnesses. Players and coaches also help serve the brunch.

Last-minute ticket requests can be phoned to 303-405-1166.
