Colorado isn’t done with winter yet.
After an extended spell of warm spring weather, forecasters are predicting a 20-degree temperature drop today with a chance for snow as a northern cold front moves over Colorado.
Temperatures should fall into the 40s, with a chance for 1 to 3 inches of snow in the metro area after 6 p.m., said Jim Kalina, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.
After scattered snowstorms Wednesday, the mountains can expect another 1 to 4 inches of snow today, he said.
The cold front should signal the end of strong winds that blasted the Front Range on Wednesday. Denver International Airport reported gusts at 56 mph, and a station in the central mountains registered a gust at 74 mph, Kalina said.
The colder temperatures should extend into the beginning of the weekend, with warmer air moving in Saturday afternoon.
