Denver Post editorial cartoonist Mike Keefe has been awarded the top prize in the 2007 John Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition.
Keefes cartoon, published Jan. 28, 2006 and available at www.denverpost.com/keefe, depicts President Bush at the signing of the U.S. Constitution. It was named the winner from 216 entries by 72 cartoonists.
The contest, sponsored by the Columbia College Chicago Department of Journalism, honors Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist John Fischetti and carries a $4,000 first-place award. Clay Bennett of The Christian Science Monitor and Steve Sack of The Minneapolis Star Tribune won honorable mentions.
