Former Green Mountain High School standout Marian Dalmy was one of 18 players named to the U.S. national women’s soccer team roster for Saturday’s game against Mexico in Foxborough, Mass.
Dalmy, a senior All-American at Santa Clara, will be listed as a defender. The game, a friendly and the first stateside game for the U.S. this year, will start at 3 p.m. The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held in China in September.
Air Force hires Meili as rifle coach
Launi Meili, a three-time world record-setter and an Olympic gold medalist, was named rifle coach at Air Force. Meili arrives from Nebraska, where in her fifth season she led the Cornhuskers to a No. 2 national ranking and a fifth-place finish in the NCAA championships last year. She replaces Lt. Col. Bill Roy.
Jimenez rocked in Sky Sox loss
Ubaldo Jimenez gave up nine runs and 11 hits as the host Colorado Sky Sox lost to the Las Vegas 51s 14-5 at Security Service Field.
The Sky Sox were playing for the first time since a three-game series against Tucson was postponed because of snow. Ryan Spilborghs had a solo home run for the Sky Sox (0-2), and Clint Barmes went 1-for-5 with a triple.
