Salt Lake City – It’s not often the Nuggets have had answers in this building.
But Wednesday night they did.
The Nuggets clinched a playoff spot for the fourth consecutive year with solid road play in a 115-106 victory over Utah at Energy Solutions Arena. But then, with this team on the road, what else is new? The win was the franchise record-setting 20th for the Nuggets on the road this season.
When the Jazz doubled Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson, the two stars moved the ball to the open man. When the Jazz trapped in a half-court set, the Nuggets split it and worked from a point of offensive advantage. When the Jazz made a run, the Nuggets stopped it with timely baskets.
These two teams are headed in opposite directions. The Nuggets won for the seventh consecutive time, staying undefeated in April (7-0), with four of those wins on the road. Meanwhile, Northwest Division-champion Utah lost for the fifth straight time and sixth in its last seven games.
Denver found many of its answers from the 3-point line. The Nuggets entered the game shooting 33.2 percent from behind the arc, but nailed 10-of-22 (45.5 percent) against the Jazz. Anthony led five Nuggets in double figures with 32 points.
