Atlanta – An overwhelming number of creditors voted in favor of Delta Air Lines Inc.’s reorganization plan, the carrier said Monday. The vote paves the way for the nation’s third-largest carrier to emerge from bankruptcy protection April 30.

The Atlanta-based airline said in a statement that unofficial results show that more than 95 percent of ballots cast were in favor of the plan.

Creditors also voted in favor of a reorganization plan for Com air, Delta’s wholly owned regional airline subsidiary, Delta said.

The final voting results for both plans will be filed this week with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. A confirmation hearing is scheduled for April 25.

The court also must approve the reorganization plan for Delta and Com air to exit Chapter 11. Delta has said it may sell or spin off Erlanger, Ky.-based Com air after it leaves bankruptcy.
