The Colorado Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the Northern Conference semifinals of the Central Hockey League playoffs with a 3-1 win over Oklahoma City on Monday at the Ford Center.

Goaltender Marco Emond stopped 33 shots for his fourth win of the playoffs, and Greg Pankewicz scored a power-play goal and added an assist, as the Eagles won two straight road games in the playoffs for the first time since the 2005 Finals against the Laredo Bucks.

Mammoth sends five to Canadian team

The Colorado Mammoth had five players chosen to play for the Canadian team in the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

Forwards Dan Carey and Gavin Prout, transition player Nenad Gajic, defenseman John Gallant and goaltender Gee Nash will represent Team Canada, which will be coached by Mammoth coach Gary Gait.

CU women’s golf team second at Big 12

After shooting a 308 on a windy day, the University of Colorado women’s golf team finished Monday’s first round tied for second at the Big 12 championship in Waco, Texas. Texas A&M leads with a 12-over-par 300.

Individually, sophomore Lindsay Caljouw, freshman Julie Kim and senior Hannah Hoch are tied for 10th with a 4-over 76.

Pioneers defending well at Sun Belt tourney

In the Sun Belt women’s golf championship, the defending champion University of Denver led the tournament by 10 strokes after the first round at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Fla. Hoping to win their fourth straight championship, the Pioneers were led by Stephanie Sherlock, who finished the round in second place with a 73, and Emily Hoeper, who tied for third with a 74.

The DU men’s team shot an opening-round 9-over-par 297 at the Walt Disney Resort to finish the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament tied for third place. The Pioneers are 12 strokes behind New Orleans, which is leading the tournament.

Individually, Jeff Koprivetz and Chris Gilman tied for fifth with an even-par 72 to lead the Pioneers.
