A classic Colorado multisport weekend is on tap.
Want to ride? Check out the Palisade Bike Festival, a one-day pedal party. There’s an off-road mountain bike race and a three-route road race through Palisade’s mesa- flanked scenery Saturday. Get the lowdown at www.townofpalisade.org.
Want to paddle? Check out the 43rd Crystal River Kayak Races, one of Colorado’s oldest kayak competitions. Slalom, boatercross and downriver races start 10 a.m. Saturday at the Crystal River Bridge adjacent to the Colorado Rocky Mountain School campus in Carbondale. High school paddlers from across the state will compete in the High School Whitewater Cup Series.
Want to ski? Silverton Mountain is unguided now and harvested all the snow from that south-veering storm that was supposed to pound central Colorado last week. Its mid-mountain base is more than 100 inches.
Want to pick up trash while riding or paddling? Sunday, being Earth Day, a bunch of paddlers, runners and cyclists will hook up at Union Boat Chutes in Englewood and float, run and pedal down the South Platte to Denver’s Confluence playpark, gathering trash along the way. A free BBQ awaits at Confluence. Boats hit the water around noon Sunday. Call Denver’s Confluence Kayaks for more info, 303-433-3676 to register.
