Boulder High School will have an increased security presence for the remainder of the week after school officials found three threatening notes scrawled around the building.
Two of the notes – one found before the school’s spring break last month and one found Monday – referenced April 19. “Everyone Dies April 19,” read the earlier note found on the wall of a men’s bathroom. The other notes were found in the men’s locker room and on a desk.
Boulder Valley Schools spokesman Briggs Gamblin said officials have learned of no information that would corroborate the threats, but Boulder High principal Bud Jenkins sent a letter to parents Monday and ordered the increased security.
Gamblin said it isn’t uncommon for the school to find threats after a situation like the tragedy Monday at Virginia Tech, adding that the school found threats last year after the school shooting in Bailey.
Jenkins said that in addition to the increased security, he will meet with staff members to review security procedures and encourage students to report anything suspicious.
