First, Aurora Central guard-forward Stephen Franklin changed his mind from Colorado to Colorado State. Then CSU made a coaching change and the All-Colorado 6-foot-5 player had to meet every one all over again. Franklin faxed his letter of intent Wednesday and CSU coach Tim Miles said: “He is intelligent, versatile and competes his tail off. He is a winner.”
Franklin averaged 19.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4.25 steals taking Aurora Central to the Class 5A championship game and a 27-1 season.
The Rams also added Donte Poole, a 6-2 guard from Las Vegas Mojave High School. Poole averaged 21.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He also played in Nevada’s state-title game. He also considered Pepperdine, Ball State and Eastern Illinois.
Miles said he would talk again to early signees Omar Leary and Shane Edwards of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. Both have been granted releases from their scholarships.
