Defensive tackle Michael Myers, the last of Denver’s free agents, agreed to terms on a two-year deal today with the Cincinnati Bengals, an NFL source confirmed. Myers had visited Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Myers was considered a Denver priority when the season ended, but when the team fired defensive coordinator Larry Coyer and hired Jim Bates to oversee the defense, that plan changed. Bates likes much bigger defensive tackles.
Myers, who is 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, was acquired by Denver in 2005, along with defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban from Cleveland for running back Reuben Droughns. He had 37 tackles, 20 assists, two sacks and played in all 16 games for Denver last season.
Myers is the third Denver free agent to leave this off-season. Defensive end Patrick Chukwurah went to Tampa Bay, and guard Cooper Carlisle signed with Oakland.
