University of Denver sophomore Joey Murray scored two late goals Sunday to force overtime, but Ohio State’s Mario Ventiquattro scored with 11 seconds remaining in overtime to give the visiting Buckeyes a 10-9 victory in a Great Western Lacrosse League game at Barton Stadium. Murray finished with a hat trick and a team-high four points to lead Denver (7-7, 2-2 GWLL) and he tied the game with 36 seconds left in regulation. Ohio State (8-4, 4-0) was led by Ventiquattro’s three goals and an assist.

Pioneers’ women’s tennis team third at SBC

The Denver women’s tennis team took third place at the Sun Belt Conference championships after defeating Troy 4-2 in a consolation match at the Waranch Tennis Center in Denton, Texas. The Pioneers’ Annette Aksdal defeated Troy’s Rawia El Sisi 7-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

Boy, who collided with CSU’s Hill, recovering

A 4-year-old boy was recovering from a deep cut to his head after Colorado State wide receiver George Hill collided with him during CSU’s spring game. Hill was catching a touchdown pass when his momentum carried him into Caden Thomas on the sideline Saturday. Caden was among several children playing on the sideline as part of a festival at Hughes Stadium, said Caden’s father, Mike Thomas.

Falcons lose 31-0 in second game of twinbill

The San Diego State baseball team scored runs in every inning except the third and routed visiting Air Force 31-0 in the back end of a doubleheader. The Aztecs (27-17, 11-4 Mountain West) notched 29 hits in the game, 11 for extra bases. Frank LoNigro went 5-for-6 with two home runs, six runs scored and six RBIs. San Diego State topped Air Force (7-33, 0-14) 4-1 in the first game.
