ADAMS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Named the Denver Newspaper Agency, which oversees business operations for The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News, winner of its Deal of the Year award during a luncheon Thursday at the Denver Merchandise Mart. DNA was recognized for investing $125 million to upgrade and consolidate printing presses at its Washington Street plant. Also, St. Anthony North Hospital was lauded for a $7.5 million, 12,000-square-foot expansion; a Regional Cooperation Award went to Adams County, the Colorado Department of Transportation and the cities of Brighton, Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster for a $40 million extension of 120th Avenue from Quebec Street to U.S. 85; Developer of the Year to ProLogis, which is building a 360,000-square-foot facility at Park 70 in Aurora; and Expansion of the Year to Fresca Foods, a Federal Heights manufacturer that produces, among other things, Larabars.
ARVADA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT: Promoted deputy chief Jon Greer to fire chief effective immediately. Greer had been the interim chief.
CREDIT UNION ASSOCIATION OF COLORADO: Honored four credit union professionals during its recent annual meeting. Robert O. Wikoff, a board member at Foothills Credit Union, received the 2007 Volunteer Hall of Fame Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the credit union movement and the community. Janet Meyers, retired chief executive officer of Jeffco Credit Union and Marilyn James Rhoades, vice president of government affairs and NEPCO branch manager, were presented the 2007 Professional Hall of Fame Achievement Award; Dan Kester, CEO of Sooper Credit Union, received the Credit Union Advocacy Award.
