Mayor: John Hickenlooper
Hickenlooper stabilized city finances and reformed key agencies in his first term, now he eyes infrastructure.
Auditor: Dennis Gallagher
This office’s new focus on performance reviews plays to Gallagher’s strength.
Clerk and Recorder: Stephanie O’Malley
O’Malley has the background to reform Denver’s inept election process.
City Council at large: Carol Boigon, Doug Linkhart
Boigon leads on regional cooperation; Linkhart works to reduce crime.
City Council District 3: JoAnn Phillips
Phillips, a former council aide, has an intimate knowledge of district issues.
District 4: Peggy Lehman
Lehman is a strong voice on parks and zoning issues.
District 5: Marcia Johnson
Johnson’s expertise on public works has earned her a second term.
District 7: Shelly Watters
Watters’ solid civic background has prepared her well for the City Council.
District 8: Carla Madison
Madison’s leadership on neighborhood and zoning issues tops an able field.
District 9: Judy Montero
Montero has led on transportation issues and helping the homeless.
Incumbents Rick Garcia in District 1, Jeanne Faatz in District 2, Charlie Brown in District 6, Jeanne Robb in District 10 and Michael Hancock in District 11 are unopposed. The Post does not endorse in unopposed races.
Referred Question 1A: Yes
This measure would allow a Denver district attorney to serve three terms rather than two. The Post feels this is a beneficial change to allow continuity in an office that requires a high level of expertise.
