Getting your player ready...

431 W. Seventh St., Los Angeles, CA, 213-625-2211, laac.com

RATES: Start at $200 per night. Overnight parking $8.80.

STAY HERE IF YOU’RE: Looking to get a great workout on the road.

IT’S CLOSE TO: The Jewelry District (of which it’s smack in the middle), the flower market, the convention center, the Federal Building.

THE ROOMS ARE: Attractive, but they show some wear (broken ceiling panels in the bathroom, carpet stains). Very spacious – you can throw down a yoga mat and stretch out.

THEY PUT ALL OF THE MONEY INTO: The fitness component. The lap pool is wonderful, with a children’s pool too, and every sport imaginable is offered (yes, people still play squash). Round-the-clock activities and spa services.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Some of the details get lost here – turndown service the first night only, the previous guest’s fruit basket left in the armoire (ew, old bananas) – but for fitness buffs, this is the place. Member of the Denver Athletic Club or another private club? Check the reciprocal list – the LAAC may let you work out even if you aren’t staying.
