Fort Carson – Three Fort Carson soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq, the Pentagon said today.
The deaths brought to 200 the number of troops from the post near Colorado Springs who have died in Iraq, Fort Carson officials said.
Staff Sgt. Jay E. Martin, Sgt. Alexander J. Funcheon and Pfc. Brian A. Botello were killed Sunday in Baghdad, the military said.
Martin, 29, was from Baltimore. Funcheon, 21, was from Bel Aire, Kan. Botello, 19, was from Alta, Iowa.
They were assigned to Fort Carson’s 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.
The U.S. command in Iraq said the three soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter were killed in eastern Baghdad.
